Before Ubisoft officially announced in  , many fans were expecting that the next setting would be the World War II, like the upcoming Assassin’s Creed comic book series. However, the game makers have reassured fans by stating that “Odyssey’s plot will not disappoint Assassins Creed fans”.

Plot

Welcome to Ancient Greece. The game takes place in 431 BC, which is the time of the Peloponnesian war between Sparta and Athens. Ubisoft describes it as a founding period for art, science and politics, and calls it “the birth of Western civilization”. The famous Greek philosopher, Socrates is the player’s friend, and will set several side quests. The interesting point here is that gamers can even argue with Socrates.

Come to Assain Creed’s Odyssey, you will have to choose between two characters: Alexios, a man, and Kassandra, a man women. No matter which character you choose, the main plot remains the same. Can’t fault it. The pictures in the game are so beautiful. From the boats floating on the green river to the statue of Poseidon, the pattern on the armor everything is amazingly detailed. The character’s movements are smooth, the attacks are powerful. And above all, the expressions of the characters and NPCs are so realistic it’s hard to believe. You can even picture yourself watching a well-invested blockbuster, not simply a game.

Gameplay

Ubisoft calls it a full RPG. That means you can shape your story and characters with dialogue choices. You can create a romantic assassin in the game. There’s no limit to who you can flirt with, so instead of mankiller you can become a ladykiller. You can anger anyone in conversations, start fights, become close, or express sarcasm. In the trailer, the game shows quite convincingly the cause and effect when choosing dialogue. However, Ubisoft said that those trailers are only a very small part, and “we promise some dialogue will feature important choices that have a strong impact on the larger story.”

On top of that, the weapon value system from Origins has now been moved to Odyssey as well. So you’ll have to constantly search for better armor to protect your character against every battle.

You also have a few new abilities that you can unlock in this game. You can upgrade your weapon or armor two more times for more effects. For example when you heat your sword on fire, your enemies will then burn or burn badly. Or if you upgrade your ability to jump, you can land on the ground and stun enemies in a wider radius, quite similar to the Batman game. However, you can only use four melee abilities and four hidden abilities at a time, and you can arrange the abilities to suit your playstyle.
