Nokia 3310, The Comeback – Mobile World Congress

Who does not know about Nokia 3310? Anyone who has owned a mobile phone in their life definitely would have owned Nokia 3310 at one point. Nokia 3310 was launched in 2000.  And Nokia 3310 was an industry game-changer.

The Nokia 3310 offered incredible battery life, and excellently ruggedness, extended-length SMS text messaging along with the very popular game Snake II. For all Nokia lovers who still missed this rugged mobile phone amongst the mass of android phones like iPhone & galaxy, there is good news. Nokia 3310 is back!

Yes, the famed Nokia 3310 has made comeback and with a collection of other Nokia branded handsets. These were revealed during a press conference at mobile industry’s top trade show-  Mobile World Congress – by Nokia and HMD Global that took place in Barcelona.

The Specs:

The latest version of Nokia 3310 happens to have lot of the same specs of the original handset.

The refreshed version of Nokia 3310 has been revolutionized a bit so it can stand with the android phones of today.

The new Nokia 3310 has made upgrades that allow it to be of if not too remarkable but efficient use in today’s time and need. The overall design of this popular phone has been given an update so it looks more modern.

A number of things have been added to new Nokia 3310 that now comes with a color screen along with a 2-megapixel rear camera.

Furthermore, the latest Nokia 3310 features a micro-USB charging port, microSD storage, a headphone jack and 16 GB of storage. The best aspect of 3310 was its excellent battery life and it is still great with 31 days of standby time with 22 hours of talk time each charge.

Its not a game changer

Even with the added features there is lot more that is missing in Nokia 3310. With no app store, GPS or Wi-Fi, 3310 still remains an old age phone that lacks a lot making it lag far behind the Galaxy and iPhone. The fact that new Nokia 3310 does not run Android was a major disappointment for all those who had gotten excited about 3310’s comeback. This missing feature is the biggest reason for the unhappiness of nostalgia-influenced buyers who had been meaning to get this memorable mobile phone set once again.

With so many android phones being in the market today, the comeback of Nokia without android was disappointing. Android is the need for today’s world. Everyone owns a smartphone now with Galaxy being the most popular android phones of today. Without android, the survival of new Nokia 3310 has become bit difficult.  Nonetheless, Nokia 3310 is expected to go on sale in the second quarter at the price of around $52 euros.

Those who had been excited about an android run phone from Nokia could relax as new Nokia 3310 is unlikely to replace your android phones of today. For a cheap burner phone or simply having one for backup, new Nokia 3310 is worth a shot.
