Kwese TV To Square Off With DSTV

During a press release statement at their  Johannesburg office, Econet Media announced that Botswana is the latest in their efforts to roll out Kwese TV across the African continent.

The new service, which is set to take on Multichoice, promises premium content in the pay-per-view space.

It currently offers sports and entertainment bouquet, with over 50 channels at an affordable price of $25 (P260) per month.

The company, which is owned by telecommunications company, Econet, is set to leverage their parent company’s telecoms infrastructure to meet their streaming demands.

Multichoice’s position as the sole dominate player in the pay-per-view market might be number.

However, they still have a huge advantage over their competitors because of their large customer base and extensive coverage.

Chief Executive Officer of Multichoice Botswana, Billy Sekgororoane, told BOPA they have strategies in place to counter their competitors.

DSTV which has had a long history of price increases, is set to increase their prices once more as of April 1.
