GamesUp is the latest permanent space in Gaborone, dedicated to video games in all their glory. So naturally we headed down to KB Mall Unit 1 to check it out.
The building has two floors – the ground floor at the entry and a top floor with all the organised gaming equipment. The top floor has all the playable stuff – PlayStation 4 consoles hooked to HD monitors and a pool table in the middle.
The ground floor has a reception area with a counter selling different electronic stuff which is operated by a member of the staff.
Back upstairs, they have a variety of games – most of them are competitive games including FIFA 18 and Gran Turismo Sports.
I wanted to mention some of the games we played during our visit. FIFA is the most played game and I completely understand and appreciate the reasons why. The majority of the visitors we saw were young people who clearly loved every second of football. “People do come here to watch football matches”, GamesUps owner said.
It feels more like a gaming hangout where you can enjoy a range of games including Call of Duty: World War II, Gran Turismo Sport, GTA 5, and more.
Finally I have to give a special mention to the staff too, who were very passionate about games, kind and accommodating. They really look after you. Really refreshing!
